Note: Quick drabble that came into my head while listening to the song this morning.

That none of them have felt this way…

It had been a month now since he was stationed to Lightning Country. The country had fallen into civil war and the elite ninja of Fire Country were called upon to help defeat the band of rebels from within. And so now Hatake Kakashi sat looking out into the distance watching as dark, ominous thunder clouds rolled slowly into the evening sky threatening to drown the battlefield with pouring rain and streaks of flashing lightning yet once again. Lightning Country indeed.

In the shelter of his flimsy tent that was now beginning to flap violently in the fiery gusts of unbearably cold wind, Kakashi held tight to a small, crisp, white sheet of paper that had just arrived by messenger bird from Konoha. He read it through once again trying to imagine the delicate hand of his wife as she put pen to paper, trying to imagine the joy in her bright green eyes and the thrill it must have brought to her heart, much like the thrill he had in his heart right now. Then he stared out into the distance once more, this time with a shine in his eyes and the widest smile on his face wanting nothing more than to go home for on the piece of paper was written:

Dear Kakashi,

I hope you are alive and well. I miss you so much it hurts. When will you be back? I hope it’s soon. I have the best news for you! I was hoping it wouldn’t happen until you came home so that you could share the moment with me, but I really had no control over the situation. Kakashi, it’s a boy! You’re a father, love! He has your hair and good looks and my eyes and strength. He nearly crushed the nurse’s finger when he grabbed a hold of it! Poor woman didn’t know what to make of it! Oh please come home soon! I want so much for you to meet Hatake Obito Sakumo and I‘m sure he wants to meet you, too! I love and miss you with all my heart!
